The ongoing ODI series between South Africa and West Indies has been a roller coaster ride so far. After the first game was abandoned due to rain, the second game saw the visitors clinch an emphatic victory against the Proteas. Skipper Temba Bavuma fought back through a resilient knock in which he scored 144 runs during the run chase. In the end, however, it was not enough for a win.

With the third and final ODI of the series underway, it was announced that Bavuma would be unavailable for the game due to hamstring discomfort, and Aiden Markram was announced as the skipper for the final match of the series.

Following the decision, many opined that middle-order batter David Miller could be a potential captain for the Proteas as well, instead of Markram. Recently, the 33-year-old came forward to give his take on the captaincy situation as well.

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested, I've really enjoyed the journey I've had with the Proteas and the experience that I've got. The fact that I am not captain, I am most certainly not bitter or anything towards anyone. I want to put my best foot forward for the team and support Aiden in that role," Miller said in a press conference ahead of the third ODI.

He is an extremely great leader: Miller on Markram

Miller also talked about the decision of Markram to captain South Africa for the third ODI, he opined that Markram has what it takes to lead the Proteas and also reflected on the fact that he is available to do whatever the team demands of him.

"He (Aiden Markram) is an extremely great leader, and he has got a lot of maturity and a calmness about him. And that just moves throughout the change room," Miller said.

"It's a great option, and with Rob coming in as the new coach, they are going to form a great combination. I am there to support the guys in whatever they need from me," he added.
