'I’d love to be able to try and affect a few people’s careers' - Ben Stokes reflects on his post-retirement plans
"I can’t see myself being someone who when the day comes when I do stop playing, I’ll just not be involved with cricket," Stokes said.
England’s Test skipper Ben Stokes recently came forward and revealed his plans after he eventually retires from cricket. Just 33 years old currently, Stokes is in the prime of his career and has been a stalwart for England in the longest format for quite some years now.
It is worth noting that Stokes made his debut in 2013 and has won the ODI World Cup in 2019 and the T20 World Cup in 2022; furthermore, ever since he started leading England’s Test side, he has only lost one series since 2022.
However, he recently revealed that after he eventually retires from cricket, he cannot imagine himself being away from the sport. The ace all-rounder admitted his interest in going into coaching.
"I can’t see myself being someone who when the day comes when I do stop playing, I’ll just not be involved with cricket. I do see myself probably wanting to go down the route of being a coach. I think that’s just with my love for the game. When I’m done playing, I’d love to be able to try and affect a few people’s careers,” Stokes told the Telegraph.

Furthermore, Stokes talked about his participation in the Champions Trophy 2025. The marquee event is said to be held in Pakistan in the early stages of 2025, and Stokes revealed that while he is eager to be a part of the tournament, he is also uncertain about his future in white-ball cricket.
"It’s hard to turn down those sort of big events, isn’t it? If I didn’t play another white-ball game, I’ll be very content with how many games I’ve played and what I’ve been able to achieve. I don’t know what the plan is going forward, whether they see me being a part of that or not. I’m sure there’ll be some conversation at some point about that. And I’ll be happy either way," he said.
