Known for his controversial takes often igniting raging debates on social media, former English skipper Michael Vaughan has yet again made waves after he posted a comparison between Virat Kohli and Joe Root. This came after Root equalled Alastair Cook's 33 Test centuries record during the Lord's Test against Sri Lanka.
In a recent conversation, former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik confessed that although the statistics show Root as the better player, he would go with Kohli bearing in mind that he has seen the latter from close quarters. He also as far as saying that if he had pick someone to bat for his life, he would name Kohli to let Kohli, perhaps delivering a subtle dig at Vaughan, who has been Karthik's close ally via being on the same commentary panel on various occasions over the past many years.
“Numbers will tell you it's Joe Root, but my heart, the fact that he is someone I've seen playing in close quarters for the longest time now, over a decade. I know how he loves playing those big moments and big series. And if somebody asks him questions, he will come to you so strongly that you will be thinking, 'wow, why did I even ask that question?'. If I were given a question of who would bat for my life, it would be Kohli. No doubt," stated Karthik on Cricbuzz's show HeyCB with DK.
