The Indian Premier League (2023) came to a fitting end as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) claimed their fifth title by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets at Ahmedabad. In a season where the spotlight was on MS Dhoni and his plans after the IPL 2023, the final will be remembered for the heroics of Ravindra Jadeja who hit 10 runs off the last two deliveries to help CSK win yet another title.

Following this feat, the heartwarming hug between Jadeja and Dhoni won the heart of every CSK fan the picture went viral in no time. Post the victory, the all-rounder also dedicated the win to his skipper saying that he did it for only one man, MS Dhoni. Jadeja hit the headlines on multiple occasions in IPL 2023 as he continuously expressed dissatisfaction on the treatment he received from fans.

Lauding the camaraderie that the duo share, Wasim Akram, the legendary former Pakistan bowler said that Dhoni has captained and backed Jadeja for a long time now and both players have even complimented each other well. Akram even urged people to stay away from misinformation that has been doing rounds on social media regarding a rift between the two CSK players.

“In today’s age of social media, someone sits at home, writes a news and it becomes viral. I don’t know for how many years Jadeja has been playing for CSK. Dhoni has been backing and giving him confidence. He has been captaining Jadeja for so many years. Why will Jadeja have a rift with him?," Akram said in an interaction with Sportskeeda.

Both of them deserve praise: Akram

The 57-year-old also went on to say that the former Indian captain is such a character that if anything is not right with someone then he will go and sort things out. In fact, the left-hand Indian batter even said that the reason behind his performance was the backing that the southpaw received from the CSK skipper.

“Knowing Dhoni, if he has a problem, he will speak to Jadeja and sort things out. Jadeja also admitted that the backing of his captain was behind his performances. This is called leading from the front. Both of them deserve praise," Akram added.

CSK winning the title for the fifth time have made them arguably the most successful IPL franchise and meanwhile, they have also tied with Mumbai Indians, winning the title five times.
