The Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered a disappointing loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday night which might affect their chances of making to the top two this season. Apparent blunders during the game led to a lot of questions being asked about the tactics of the Delhi franchise by experts.
Apart from the questionable decisions taken in the game by Axar Patel and Co. the journalists have started to question the selection of the team after the loss, one of them being the decision to leave out left-arm seamer T Natarajan, who was one of their biggest buys in the auction. However, DC mentor and former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has answered their question, saying that there are only 12 players they can pick, and the Tamil Nadu pacer will be ready when his opportunity comes.
“We can only play 12 players, one being an impact player. And if you can tell me where he fits in at the moment, you would help us. If you can help us play 13-14, it would help us. One thing I can say about Natarajan is that he's doing everything that he's been asked to do, as are all of our players,” Capitals mentor Kevin Pietersen said during the post-match press conference.
“What's been so impressive about our setup is how good the guys are that are not playing, and they know that their chance is coming. They know that their chance is just around the corner,” the former England legend added.
