The ongoing mega cricket carnival T20 World Cup 2024 has been a rollercoaster ride for the Pakistan cricket team so far. After losing their opening two matches against the USA and India, their hopes of progressing to the Super Eight stage were dicey.

Amid this disappointing run, pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi has made a heartfelt request to Pakistani fans, urging them to come in support of the team during these testing times. In the same vein, Afridi expressed his disappointment with the lack of support from some fans during the team's struggles. He labelled the people who don't support the side during such times are like other media outlets.

"Everyone supports you in good times, but I've always said that fans must support us in tough times. We are not a gully cricket team. This is your Pakistan team as well. If you can't support us during these times, you're just like the media, he said in an interview on the YouTube channel Crickwick.

With the USA and India having already qualified for the next round, the Green Shirts' final group match against Ireland on Sunday has become a matter of pride. Besides. in the three games played, the lanky left-arm pacer has picked just two wickets at an economy of 6.91. The 24-year-old, whose form has been questioned by some, firmly defended his recent performances.

'I've always been a bowler who bowled 136-140 kph at the start, and I'm still doing so. When a bowler picks up wickets, everyone speaks well, but when he doesn't, all the negative things are said," Afridi concluded.
