Here are the qualification scenarios for all the teams:
MI Emirates
MI Emirates have clinched the first playoffs spot after securing consecutive victories against Sharjah Warriors and Desert Vipers, accumulating 12 points in their first eight matches with an impressive net run rate of 2.055. Even if they lose upcoming matches against Gulf Giants and Dubai Capitals, they could still finish in the top two due to their robust net run rate. However, they must avoid significant defeats in their remaining games to maintain their current standing.
Abu Dhabi Knight Riders
Abu Dhabi Knight Riders have surged with two consecutive victories, positioning themselves second in the table with eight points from seven matches. With three league encounters remaining, including two against Sharjah Warriors, their playoff prospects look promising. Securing two wins in the final leg guarantees them a playoff spot. Winning one against the Giants and a Dubai Capitals stumble will ensure their slot in Qualifier 1 on February 13 in Dubai. However, a string of losses could jeopardise their chances, especially considering their current negative run rate of -0.401.
Gulf Giants
The Gulf Giants, positioned third in the standings with six points and a positive net run rate (NRR), secured a commanding 79-run victory over Sharjah Warriors on Sunday in Dubai, gaining a significant advantage in the title race. Winning all three remaining matches ensures their playoff berth. Even with a loss, their strong NRR offers hope, albeit reliant on other match outcomes. However, should they lose all remaining fixtures and maintain six points, elimination looms large, especially with three bottom-placed teams—Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, and Sharjah Warriors—currently sharing the same points as the Gulf Giants.
Desert Vipers
The Desert Vipers, last year's finalists, currently stand at six points but have played one additional match compared to their rivals. Their recent loss to MI Emirates dropped them to fourth place in the points table. With matchups against lower-ranked teams like Capitals and Warriors, the Vipers will aim to secure vital wins in their last two league fixtures.
To secure a playoff spot, Desert Vipers must win both remaining games and rely on Dubai Capitals and Sharjah Warriors to drop at least one more match besides losing to the Vipers. A single defeat could spell elimination for Desert Vipers, if either Dubai Capitals or Sharjah Warriors win two of their three remaining matches, accumulating 10 points.
Dubai Capitals
The Dubai Capitals continue to seek momentum amidst a challenging season, enduring four losses in their first seven matches, leaving them second to last on the points table with a negative net run rate of -0.308. However, the Capitals can retain control over their fate as winning all three remaining games guarantees their qualification. Alternatively, two victories could suffice if they defeat the Gulf Giants and Desert Vipers, reaching 10 points, while Sharjah Warriors drop a game and remain at 10 points. With a superior NRR compared to the Warriors, the Capitals can secure their berth.
Sharjah Warriors
Sharjah Warriors find themselves in alignment with Dubai Capitals and Gulf Giants in terms of points, yet their troubling net run rate of -1.65 casts a shadow over their campaign, leaving them rooted at the bottom of the table. To secure qualification, the Warriors must triumph in all remaining fixtures, including the Knight Riders twice and the Desert Vipers once. Alternatively, two victories, including one against the Vipers, could suffice if either the Capitals or Giants lose at least two of their final three matches. However, should the Warriors endure two defeats, their hopes for a finals berth will be dashed.
