'I'm flexible and ready to bat anywhere in the batting order'- Shreyas Iyer on Champions Trophy squad

The Indian team's Champions Trophy 2025 squad is yet to be announced but there is still a lot of debate on who will be the final 15 who will feature in the squad going forward. There are a lot of potential players on the list who have been in incredible form and have a chance of making it in the squad.

Two players who have been on the radar are KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer who were also part of the 2023 World Cup and played a huge role in the middle order. Iyer and Rahul were some of the best performers for the Indian team in the tournament which went on to become runner-ups at the end after facing a disappointing loss against Australia in the final. Iyer has also opened up on his chances of playing in the tournament and has said that he is flexible in batting at any position and also reflected on the performances he and Rahul had in the 2023 World Cup.

“I'm flexible and ready to bat anywhere in the batting order. KL (Rahul) and I, we played that important role in the middle during the World Cup. We had a great season together. It was just the last bit (the final against Australia) that we couldn't execute the way we wanted to. It will be a proud moment for me if I were to be picked in the Champions Trophy (squad) to represent the country,” said Iyer while speaking to ESPNCricinfo.

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul were the third and fourth-highest run scorers for the Indian team in the 2023 World Cup. Iyer scored 530 runs in the 11 matches at an average of 66.25 and Rahul scored 452 at an average of 75.33. They both have an incredible record in ODI cricket as well with Iyer averaging 47.47 and Rahul averaging 49.15.
