Newly appointed Australia skipper Alyssa Healy is delighted with the team’s performance in the recent all-format series against India. The visitors lost the one-off Test match by eight wickets but made an emphatic return in the ODI series, winning 3-0. They lost the first T20I of the series at DY Patil Sports Academy but bounced back to win two consecutive matches to finish the India tour on a high.
Reflecting upon their performance on the tour, Healy mentioned that they played only two and a half days of bad cricket, for which they lost the Test match and the first T20I. She is happy with the brand of cricket that Australia played and added that the team was very united in the festive season, as this was the first time when the players were away for a tour during Christmas and New Year.
“I’m just really, really proud of this group of people. We’re here in India over a month that we’re traditionally at home spending time with our families, and it’s the first time we’ve been away at this time of year, and literally the girls have just jumped in and played some good hard cricket,” Healy was quoted as saying by Glamsham.
“I think the month that we’ve been here we played two-and-a-half bad days of cricket, that was it – one-and-a-half days in the Test match and one T20. I’m really proud of the group for that and hopefully, we can have a really successful 2024 off the back of it,” the 33-year-old said.
Phoebe Litchfield is going to have a long and successful career for Australia: Healy
Healy lauded Phoebe Litchfield for having a brilliant time with the bat in India. The youngster was adjudged Player of the Series in the ODIs and she followed it up with scores of 49, 17*, and 18* in the T20Is. Healy is mighty impressed with her performances and stated that the cricketer is going to have a long and successful career for Australia.
“Unbelievable talent but at the same time she has got a good head on her shoulders and has fitted in beautifully in our squad and will play a key role for us in the Bangladesh T20 World Cup, and the ODI World Cup (in India) in these conditions in the next 18 months. She is great to watch and hopefully, she is going to have a long and successful career for Australia,” Healy said.
