South African star leg spinner Imran Tahir has accused Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Rangpur Riders of not paying him in full for his services in the previous BPL season. The Global Super League (GSL) match against his former team was a personal battle for him and he wanted to make a big statement against them. The allegation from the 45-year-old star will cause a lot of drama once again.
Imran Tahir might have retired from ODI cricket but is still active in T20s through franchise leagues. The wily leg spinner is among the highest wicket-takers in the format with over 500 wickets to his name and has established himself as a legendary player in the format as well. He is currently playing in the Global Super League for the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Though Tahir has chosen to represent the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) in the league, in the recent match he was up against the Rangpur Riders. It turns out it was a personal battle for Tahir as he had payment issues with the BPL side and made a clear statement before the match itself.
“I would like to win it for Guyana, and for personal reasons as well. I played for Rangpur Riders in BPL last year and have not got my all contract money," said Tahir, as quoted by The Daily Star.
This was a huge allegation made by the star leggie. Though the Warriors ended up losing the game in the end seeing Imran Tahir’s performance where he ended with amazing figures of 2/24 in four overs shows that he was motivated to make a big statement in the match against his former franchise.
