Australia's long list of injuries has received another addition after Matthew Renshaw was sent for X-Rays on his knee during the second day of the Nagpur Test. The 26-year-old hurt his knee during the warm-ups before play on Day Two at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. The visitors are already without the services of Cameron Green, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood for the Test series opener.
Matthew Renshaw, who endured an abysmal return to India after being dismissed for a golden duck in the first innings, is in doubt for the rest of the match after he was taken for an assessment of his knee in Nagpur. The southpaw hurt his knee before the start of play on the second day, leading into being taken for an X-Ray.
Ashton Agar replaced the injured cricket on the field, while Renshaw was seen leaving the ground after complaints of soreness in his knee. The Aussie cricketer has not been lucky after returning to the Test side as he tested positive for Covid during Australia's last series against South Africa. However, he retained his place in the side, keeping out the in-form Travis Head.
Todd Murphy impresses on debut as Rohit stands tall for hosts
Coming to the match, the visitors were frustrated by the partnership between Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin before Todd Murphy got better of Ashwin. The debutant has been impressive with the ball and has received able support from Scott Boland, who kept a lid on the scoring rate from the other end.
The young off-spinner, who received his Test cap from Nathan Lyon, also got rid of the stubborn Cheteshwar Pujara to halt India's progress in the morning session. Despite wickets falling from the other end, Rohit has looked impregnable at the crease as the surface is not playing any tricks on the batters. He is looking well set for a memorable Test century in the first match of the series.
