The highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Test series is all set to kickstart as the No. 1 Test team- Australia will cross swords with a dominant Indian side for the ultimate bragging rights. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will see four red-ball matches played between the two fierce rivals starting on February 9 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur and will conclude with the final contest to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad starting on March 9.

The historical rivalry has included a number of thrilling contests that have intensified over time due to the emotions displayed on the field, the banter, sledging, and the sensational performances.
The Aussies are currently riding high on the back of successive series wins in the red-ball format against South Africa and West Indies whereas India clinched the series against neighbours Bangladesh in December. It is worth noting that the Aussies have been struggling to obtain results in their favour on Indian soil as their last series win came in the 2004/05 season.
Speaking about their head-to-head in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, as many as 15 series have been played thus far with team India clinching nine of them whereas Australia have won five series and one resulting in a draw.
