IND vs AUS: Virat Kohli continues to reign in list of active players with most international centuries

Virat Kohli continues to dominate in international cricket and with a century against Australia in the fourth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the 34-year-old extended his streak to continue as the batter with the most number of centuries to his name among active players. Kohli notched up his 75th Test ton and stands second in the list of players with the most number of international centuries.

While Sachin Tendulkar tops the overall list with 100 centuries to his name, Kohli tops the list of active players with 75 tons to his name. Joe Root and David Warner are tied in the second spot with 45 international hundreds apiece. Kohli also equaled Brain Lara's record of scoring 24 centuries while batting at No. 4 in Tests.

Though Kohli remains second in the list of cricketers with most international centuries, he surpassed Tendulkar to become the fastest to reach 75 international tons. While Tendulkar had achieved the feat in 566 innings, Kohli did it in 552 innings. Kohli also equaled Sunil Gavaskar in the list of Indians with most Test centuries against Australia.

While Kohli and Gavaskar have eight centuries to their name against Australia in Tests, Tendulkar tops the list with 11 tons. With his 28^th Test ton, Kohli surpassed Mohammad Azharuddin, Virender Sehwag, and Dilip Vengsarkar to become the fourth-highest player in the list of most Test centuries for India at home. Rahul Dravid, Gavaskar, and Tendulkar take up the third, second, and first spots respectively.

Among active cricketers, Kohli now shares the top spot with Steve Smith in the list of players active players with the most centuries in the Border Gavaskar Trophy as the two cricketing greats have notched up eight centuries in the history of BGT. Tendulkar tops the list with nine Test tons in BGT overall, and Kohli and Smith share the second spot alongside Ricky Pointing.
