India managed to register a brilliant victory against Bangladesh in the first T20I of the ongoing series as both sides locked horns in the first T20I in Gwalior on Sunday, October 6.
While there were many performances from team India that stood out and helped them win the game, the one which was most noticeable performances came from star pacer Arshdeep Singh. The 25-year-old bowled 3.5 overs in the game and took three wickets, conceding only 14 runs. His excellent spell earned him the Player of the Match as well.
Arshdeep’s performance heavily impressed Tamim Iqbal, who lauded the performance of Indian pacer and highlighted how excellently he bowled his last over in the game. He also talked about how Arshdeep can hold his own against the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj as well.
“The last over he bowled was unbelievable. People talk about overs bowled by others, but nobody talked about his over. His over was very crucial. And the best thing about him I liked is that he knows his limitations. He doesn’t go out of his limits and he knows what he can and can’t do,” Tamim was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.
“This isn’t about one match we are talking about as he has been doing it for a number of years for India and has been phenomenal. He is a frontline bowler. Whether or not Bumrah and Siraj come in, he will definitely be in the playing XI,” Tamim added.
Arshdeep has managed to perform whenever given the chance with team India. Having mostly played 55 T20Is, the 25-year-old has has taken 86 wickets at an economy of 8.28. His performance in the first T20I against Bangladesh spoke volumes about his importance in India’s T20I setup, and it is expected that the left-armer will play a crucial role in the upcoming matches.
