India have had a great run in the T20 internationals of late and are currently the number-one team in the ICC rankings. Their last series loss came against the West Indies in 2023, where the visitors had lost 2-3, but later never failed to impress with their dominating performances. Notably, they also won the T20 World Cup in 2024 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, and since then, the captaincy mantle has been handed over to star batter Suryakumar Yadav.

The Indian team will next be playing the 5-match T20I series against England and will be looking to keep their dominance in the team. Even after the retirement of Indian legends Virat Kohli and Rohit, the Indian team has kept their dominance intact. Former India cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has also shared his views on the performance of the Indian team in the format and lauded their newfound fearless approach in the game ever since Suryakumar Yadav, fondly known as SKY, took over.

“Sky is the limit. I mean, quite literally. He is the captain as well, and under his tenure, the team is also playing very aggressively. See, once in a while, when you think too far ahead and fly too high, then sometimes you fall too. So, when we're talking about close to 300 run targets, it's possible that one day we'll reach only 125. That is also a possibility but the way this team plays, it feels like it's been decided—we'll be fearless. After that, we'll see what happens,” Chopra said on Yadav, while speaking on Star Sports' Game Plan show.

In their last T20 series, the Men in Blue faced South Africa in the rainbow nation, and won by a comprehensive margin of 3-1. Tilak Varma emerged as the star of the series with 280 runs, which included a couple of centuries at an average of 140. The team will be hoping for similar performances from the southpaw when he faces The Three Lions in the upcoming series.
