The England team has announced changes to their lineup for the upcoming second T20I in Chennai. The visitors will want to make a comeback after the disappointing loss in Kolkata where they lost by seven wickets.

England have left out right-arm pacer Gus Atkinson and possibly replaced him with the 29-year-old Brydon Carse. Along with that, it seems like young wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith might be in contention as well as he has been named in the first 12. If he plays he will make his debut in the format.

The England team could only manage to score 132 runs at Eden Gardens with only the knock of Jos Buttler being memorable as the England skipper scored 68 off 44 deliveries while the other batters struggled to get going in the game. The Indian batters, in reply, chased down the target in just 12.5 overs with the help of an incredible knock from Abhishek Sharma. This also meant that England would be going into the Chennai match trailing 0-1 in the five-match series.

Speaking of Jamie Smith’s career so far, he has had a decent start where he is averaging 42.47 in the nine matches he has played but has an underwhelming run in white-ball cricket after seven ODIs, and has an average of 22.17.

England's 12-member squad

Ben Duckett, Phil Salt (wk), Jos Buttler (c), Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood and Jamie Smith (in contention).
