IND vs ENG: Shoaib Bashir hilariously reviews a 'clean-bowled' dismissal on Day 3
Shoaib Bashir was cleaned up by Ravindra Jadeja who ended the 48-run stand between him and Root.
India hammered England by 4-1 in the five-match Test series as they won the fifth Test by an innings and 64 runs at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala on Saturday, March 09. The Rohit Sharma-led side came into the day on 473/8 leading by 255 runs. They were eventually bundled out for 477 and went on to win the game by an innings and 64 runs.
During England’s second innings, a hilarious moment was witnessed on Day 3 as tailender Shoaib Bashir tried to review a ‘clean bowled’ dismissal. The incident took place in the 46th over of the innings as Ravindra Jadeja cleaned up Bashir’s stumps with a delivery that turned sharply away from the right-hander.
However, the 20-year-old didn’t realise that he’d lost his stumps and decided to take a review thinking he had been given caught behind. The incident left his partner Joe Root in splits who told him that he’s been bowled.

Coming back to the match, England came into the second innings with a massive deficit of 259 runs and had to put up a miraculous batting performance to script a comeback. However, the beginning didn’t go as planned for the visitors who lost their opener Ben Duckett (2 off 5) cheaply as Ravichandran Ashwin cleaned up his stumps.
Ravichandran Ashwin picks 36th five-wicket haul
Playing his 100th Test, the veteran spinner continued from where he left off in the first innings as he picked five out of the first six wickets to fall for England. He got the prized scalps of Zak Crawley (0 off 16), Ollie Pope (19 off 23), Jonny Bairstow (39 off 31), and Ben Foakes (8 off 17). As a result, he registered figures of 5/77 in 14 overs and clinched his 36th five-wicket haul in Tests leaving behind Anil Kumble to pick most fifers for India.
