Dhoni also delighted the Indian players as he met them during their training session a day before the match and shared some valuable inputs with the youngsters ahead of the first T20I. The 41-year-old will be back in cricketing action soon as he will be leading Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming IPL.
Talking about the match, New Zealand have posted a total of 176 for the loss of six wickets after being asked to bat first. Finn Allen and Devon Conway got off to a flying start for the Black Caps as they scored 43 runs in 4.1 overs before Washington Sundar struck twice in the over to get rid of Allen, and then dismissed Mark Chapman by grabbing a splendid catch off his own bowling.
Conway got out after scoring a fine half-century (52 off 35 balls) including seven fours and a maximum. But it was Daryl Mithcell who ended the visitors' innings with a bang by scoring an unbeaten 59 off 30 balls including three fours and five sixes at a superb strike rate of 196.66.
India are already four down and rely heavily on skipper Hardik Pandya to take them over the line in pursuit of 177.
