India's up and coming all-rounder Washington Sundar grabbed a stunning catch in the ongoing first T20I between India and New Zealand being played in Ranchi to dismiss Mark Chapman and to reduce the visitors to 43 for the loss of two wickets at the end of five overs.
Sundar dived to his right and grabbed a mindblowing catch on the final delivery of the fifth over. The soft signal was out but it was referred to the third umpire for confirmation by the on-field umpires. The third umpire had no hesitation in staying with the on-field call and hence the decision was upheld.
Watch the spectacular catch here:
Sundar looked in business right from the first ball of his spell as he was able to get enough purchase out of the surface at the JSCA International Stadium Complex. He bothered the Kiwi opening batter Finn Allen a lot with the amount of turn he was getting.
Although Allen managed to hit Sundar for a six over cow corner, the young all-rounder made a remarkable comeback and dismissed Allen on the very next delivery. Allen failed to connect a slog sweep and ended up hitting it straight down to Suryakumar Yadav's throat who was stationed at mid-wicket, slightly squarer than usual.
Chapman, who came into the middle following Allen's dismissal to face the third delivery of the fifth over was troubled straightaway. Chapman tried to defend a good length delivery that pitched on middle and off but got beaten completely as the ball turned away and missed his Chapman's willow.
Chapman managed to negotiate two more deliveries back to back but was undone on the last delivery of the over. Chapman tried to defend the last delivery of the over but it hit the maker's name on the blade and ballooned towards Sundar, who leapt in the air and pulled off a stunner.
