IND vs SA: Indian team bus gets mobbed by Sanju Samson fans upon arrival in Thiruvananthapuram
Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Ashwin, and Rohit Sharma shared videos of passionate fans surrounding the team bus.
The Indian team has landed in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, for their next assignment against the Proteas after clinching the T20I series against Australia in Hyderabad. The Men in Blue will host South Africa for the first T20I of the three-match series at the Greenfield International Stadium (formerly Trivandrum International Stadium) on the 28th of September. Indian cricketers, including skipper Rohit Sharma, shared stories on social media accounts after the team bus was greeted by a huge crowd of fans.
Rohit Sharma's Indian team secured the series in the final T20I after a narrow victory against a spirited Australian side. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav turned the tide in the favor of the hosts before Hardik Pandya added the finishing touches. India broke the record for most T20I wins in a calendar year by virtue of that win, surpassing Pakistan's tally of 20 wins in 2021.
The Indian spin twins Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin shared a video of their huge reception in their Instagram story, mentioning the local hero Sanju Samson. The Indian skipper also shared a similar story with the team bus surrounded by enthusiastic cricket fans upon their arrival in Kerala.
Sanju Samson lead India A to a comfortable victory against the Kiwis
While the Indian team will be engaging in a highly-anticipated T20I series against the visiting South African side, Sanju Samson will be plying his trade for India A against New Zealand. Notably, the cricketer hailing from Kerala was omitted from the Indian T20I squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The decision did not go down well in these parts with rumors of a protest being planned by Samson's supporters over his exclusion doing rounds. But the 27-year-old was then handed the responsibility of leading India A squad against the touring New Zealand side.
The 27-year-old played an unbeaten knock of 29 runs as India defeated the Kiwis in front of a vociferous crowd at Chepauk. The batting ace was greeted by a huge roar by the Chennai crowd with loud chants of "Sanju, Sanju".
