India A vs South Africa A 2023: Everything you need to know about upcoming series

In preparation for the crucial upcoming Test series against South Africa, which is slated to begin on December 26, India A are gearing up to face off against South Africa A in a three-match Test series. To ensure a strong foundation, some key players from the senior Test team have joined India A early for a 'shadow tour,' providing a precursor to the main event.

Traditionally, the BCCI organized 'A' team tours to countries where the senior team is scheduled to play Test matches. However, due to last year's focus on the ODI World Cup, these developmental cricket tours, including the U-19 series, took a backseat after the Bangladesh series.

The Men’s Selection Committee convened in New Delhi on November 30, to assemble Team India’s squad for the upcoming tour of South Africa, encompassing three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches, respectively. Alongside these fixtures, India A are set to engage in two four-day matches against South Africa A and an intra-squad three-day match during the tour.
