The 2022 T20 World Cup started with a bang after Namibia and Scotland pulled off shocking wins against heavyweights Sri Lanka and West Indies respectively, within the first two days of the tournament. While India prevailed in a last-over thriller against Australia in their first warm-up fixture, former Indian captain and legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar picked both these teams to contest the final of this year's edition.

The Men in Blue, led by Rohit Sharma, got the better of defending champions Australia in their first warm-up fixture after some breathtaking death bowling from the returning Mohammed Shami. Although there were still a few question marks over the performances of some of the players, Sunil Gavaskar feels that India will make it to the final this time around along with reigning champions Australia.

"India, definitely. And because I am in Australia so I am going to say Australia," Gavaskar said on Star Sports before the warm-up match between India and Australia on Monday.

Tom Moody also placed India and Australia as his two finalists for the T20 World Cup

Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody also gave his verdict on the finalists, listing Australia, England, India, and Pakistan as the semi-finalists, with India and Australia going all the way to the final of the 2022 T20 World Cup.

"I am going to give you the top four. Australia and England will go through from their group. I think Pakistan and India would be leading the other group. The finalists, I have to say Australia and India," Moody gave his verdict on the topic.

Mohammed Shami's return will please Rohit Sharma, who looks to address his side's death bowling woes in the shortest format of the game. After defeating Australia in their first game, India will take on the former's Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand, to conclude their warm-up fixtures before clashing with arch-rivals Pakistan on the 23rd of October in front of a sold-out MCG in their first match of the ICC mega event.
