Former India cricketer Salil Ankola's mother found dead in Pune, Police begins investigation

Former India cricketer and actor Salil Ankola has been undergoing a rather disheartening phase of life. The cricketer's mother, Mala Ankola was found dead in her flat in Pune, on Friday, October 4. The investigations are already underway after the police visited the residence for a thorough check.
So far the case has left everyone bamboozled including the investigative officials. In what turned out to be a startling revelation, the police have said that she was found stabbed in her neck region. The puzzling part as per the police was the fact that in the initial investigations, it was found that nobody forcibly barged into Ankola's mother's house, as per DNA.
Hence, it was still unclear about the motive of the stabbing. So far, it remains only a mystery whether it was a case of murder or not. In the same regard, after having lost his beloved mother, Salil Ankola took to his social media to share the sad news of his mother's demise. As perceived by his recent post, he seemed heartbroken as he bid farewell to his mother.
"Good bye Mom," Ankola wrote on his Instagram handle with a broken heart emoji.

Ankola played for India in 1996 ODI World Cup
At this point, more details are yet to be unravelled by the police in the ongoing case. Now speaking of Salil Ankola, made his Test debut for Team India on November 15, 1989, against Pakistan. Besides, he also donned the Blue jersey for the national side in the ODIs as well. Moreover, he also went on to represent India in the ODI World Cup played in the year 1996.

However, he retired from international cricket in 1997, when he was just 29 years old in what was a promising career getting cut short. Thereafter, he switched to Bollywood and made his acting debut alongside star Sanjay Dutt in 2000. His debut movie was named, Kurukshetra. Moving on he acted in notable movies like Ekta, Riwayat, Chura Liya Hai Tumne and The Power, to name a few.
Salil Ankola retired from cricket at the tender age of 29 in 1997, cutting short his promising career. Later, he entered into the world of Bollywood. He made his acting debut in 2000, co-starring with Sanjay Dutt in Kurukshetra. Following this, Salil landed several roles in movies such as Chura Liya Hai Tumne, Riwayat, Ekta, and The Power.
All in all, he played one Test and 20 ODI games for India. However, in the recent few years, he again reconnected to Indian cricket and became the national selector. In August 2024, he relinquished the coveted post of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).
