Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023

India and Australia are currently engaged in an intriguing arm-wrestle as India are hosting the Kangaroos for a four-match Test series at home. India are already 1-0 up in the series by virtue of their victory in the first Test in Nagpur.

India's spin attack, led by the spin twins Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin decimated the Australian batting order. Apart from the duo of Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, only the wicket-keeper batter Alex Carey could show some resistance against India's spin attack.

The other Aussie batters failed to put up any fight and it enabled India to take an early lead in the series. For India, skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front and scored a match-winning ton. In addition to that, both Jadeja and Axar Patel scored fifties and helped India take a sizable lead of 223 after the end of their first innings.

After getting bowled out for 177 in the first innings, Australia failed to make any remarkable improvement in their second innings and were rocked by the spell of Ashwin who bagged a five-wicket haul to hand India a convincing victory. The Pat Cummins-led side got bowled out for just 91 in their second innings. India will take on the visitors in the second Test in Delhi starting February 17.
