India would be raring to comeback after losing the World Test Championship final for the second time in succession. After a much-needed break, the team will assemble in the Caribbean for a multi-format series as they face West Indies in two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will assemble in Bridgetown, Barbados, for a week-long training camp at the Kensington Oval before the first Test of the two-match series, beginning on July 12.

Meanwhile, the Indian team management wants the team to have two practice matches as a part of their preparations for the series. As per a Cricbuzz report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is in talks with Cricket West Indies (CWI) and Cricket Barbados to facilitate the same.

"They are training at Kensington Oval until we private charter them to Dominica before the start of the Test Series." The team management chose Barbados over Roseau, the capital of Dominica, because the facilities in Roseau are not highly rated," a CWI official told Cricbuzz.

Indian team to travel to Barbados in separate groups

According to reports, it has been tough finding tickets to the Caribbean as the number of large aircrafts flying to the area is limited. Therefore, the Indian team and the support staff will reach Barbados in separate groups between July 1-2 and are likely to stay there till July 8-9.

On June 23, the BCCI announced India's Test and ODI squads as experienced players like Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav have been dropped from the Test squad after their disappointing performances in the WTC final, while the promising Yashasvi Jaiswal has been picked in the Test side. Further, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Mukesh Kumar have earned a spot in both Tests and ODIs while Mohammed Shami has been rested.

Meanwhile, the West Indies are currently playing in the World Cup Qualifiers. They are placed in Group A alongside the USA, Nepal, Netherlands, and hosts Zimbabwe. The Shai Hope-led side have won both their matches so far and are sitting at the top of the table.
