India vs South Africa: Weather Forecast for the first T20I in Thiruvananthapuram

After a satisfying series win over the world champions Australia, team India has now shifted its focus on the three-match T20I series against South Africa. The Men in Blue have not managed to beat the Proteas in a T20I series since 2018 and thus, it’s needless to say that they have some unfinished business. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma, on the other hand, will be all charged up after being unsold in the SA20 auction and thus, fans can expect a fiery contest at Thiruvanathapuram on Wednesday, 28th of September.

Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have been given some time off and the duo will be spending some time at the NCA before the all-important T20 World Cup. Deepak Hooda has also been ruled out of the series following a back injury while Mohammad Shami is yet to recover from Covid. Shreyas Iyer is likely to come up to the main squad to replace Hooda while Umesh Yadav will continue to be a part of the squad as Shami’s replacement.

Now, even though there are plenty of problems for team India, the Men in Blue will still start as the favourites to win the series. Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav played some brilliant cricket in the third T20I against Australia while Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik have also shown glimpses of their class. KL Rahul’s form is still a concern along with the death-overs. Even though Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have made their return, the bowling department looks pretty pale towards the end of an innings. Meanwhile, Axar Patel has been splendid with the bowl.

Coming to South Africa, Temba Bavuma and his boys will be motivated to beat India on their home turf. The likes of David Miller, Quinton De Kock, Rilee Rossouw and Tristan Stubbs will be the players to watch out for. When it comes to bowling, Kagiso Rabada has a tremendous record against India and on spin-friendly tracks, Tabraiz Shamsi can be a very dangerous weapon.
