Royal Challengers Bangalore steamrolled Rajasthan Royals by 112 runs in Match 60 of IPL 2023 on Sunday, May 14 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. After opting to bat first, RCB posted 171/5 on the scoreboard, courtesy of splendid half-centuries from Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. In reply, RR were bundled out for 59 as Wayne Parnell starred with the ball with his spell of 3/10 in three overs.

During Rajasthan’s chase, RCB wicketkeeper Anuj Rawat ran out Ravichandran Ashwin with his smart glovework. The incident took place in the eighth over of the innings bowled by Karn Sharma. On the last ball of the over, Shimron Hetmyer cut the ball towards point and immediately looked for two. Mohammed Siraj collected the ball on the boundary and threw it to Rawat at the striker’s end, who had taken off the glove from his left hand and threw the ball at the stumps through the gap between his legs, just as MS Dhoni is known to do.

The square umpire immediately went to the third umpire to confirm the decision and replays found Ravichandran Ashwin short of the crease, resulting in running himself out.

Rawat’s glove work is being loved by fans all over social media who’re praising the 23-year-old for his incredible presence of mind.
