Arshad Khan sent Prabhsimran Singh packing to mount early pressure on Punjab

Coming in to bat after losing the toss, Punjab aimed to notch up a big total on the scoreboard. As skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh came in to bat, Mumbai struck early. Arshad Khan sent Prabhsimran Singh packing in the second over of the game. Having scored 219 runs in 10 games, Punjab would have expected the Indian batter to put in an impressive performance.

However, he only managed to score nine runs in seven deliveries before he was sent back to the pavilion. Trying to slash the ball away from his body, a thick outside edge saw the ball land straight into keeper Ishan Kishan’s gloves, handing MI the first breakthrough. Despite the early wicket, Punjab did manage to score 58 runs with the loss of one wicket in the powerplay, thanks to Dhawan and Matthew Short.

Currently, both sides fight for a place in the playoffs, with the tournament heading towards its business end. Punjab find themselves in sixth place in the IPL points table with 10 points in nine games, whereas Mumbai sit seventh with eight points in eight matches.
