Due to persistant rain on Sunday, May 28, the all-important IPL final between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) moved to IPL's first-ever reserve day and will now be played on Monday, May 29. This has created a lot of chaos as the travelling fans had no place to go and had to spend the night sleeping on the floor of a nearby railway station. Thousands of them who travelled from across the country and especially from Chennai had to extend their stay in Ahmedabad, and it was absolute mayhem throughout the night.

The pictures and videos of fans sleeping on the floors went instantly viral on various social media platforms, and out of which; a few claimed that they came to watch the match only because of MS Dhoni. Meanwhile, multiple fans wearing Dhoni’s jersey were spotted, as many reports claim that the legendary stumper-batter can call his time after the ongoing extravaganza.

On the other hand, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked the fans to keep their physical tickets intact as that’s how they can attend the match on the reserve day. The governing body also added that they will accept tickets even if it’s torn but should carry every bit of information. They also clarified that no digital ticket will be accepted on the day of the final.

“The #Final of the #TATAIPL 2023 has been moved to the reserve day on 29th May - 7:30 PM IST at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Physical tickets for today will be valid tomorrow. We request you to keep the tickets safe & intact,” IPL tweeted after the match got abandoned on May 28.

Notably, this is for the first time that the final has been shifted to the reserve day and will be happening on Monday. BCCI’s logistic team and the ground staff too faced multiple issues on May 28 and tried their best to conduct the match on the same day itself, but the rain barely stopped, and thus, the umpires postponed it to May 29. Meanwhile, as per the weather report, there’s a slight chance of rain on the reserve day as well, but the match is expected to take place.
