South African all-rounder Sisanda Magala joins four-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2023 edition as a replacement for the injured Kyle Jamieson. The 32-year-old Proteas all-rounder joins the team at his base price of INR 50 lakh.
Chennai Super Kings suffered a huge blow after New Zealand's star pacer Kyle Jamieson's recurring back injury ruled him out of the impending 16th editions of the Indian Premier League. The tall pacer picked up an injury in preparation for his side's Test series against England last month and is slated to undergo back surgery, ruling him out of IPL 2023.
However, the four-time champions have reacted swiftly to the setback, naming Sisanda Magala as the replacement for the injured Kiwi. Magala, who recently featured for South Africa in their triumphant ODI series against England, will be joining the Chennai Super Kings camp ahead of IPL 2023.
"Chennai Super Kings have signed South Africa pacer Sisanda Magala as a replacement for New Zealand bowler Kyle Jamieson for IPL 2023. Jamieson, who was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, was bought by the franchise for INR 1 Crore. His replacement, Magala, has rich experience in the shortest format of the game. Though he has played just 4 T20Is for South Africa, Magala has a reputation of being a regular wicket-taker in domestic T20 games over the years. He will join CSK at his base price of INR 50 Lakh," read an official statement from IPL.
