In the ongoing IPL 2023, some players have breached the IPL code of conduct, which is in place to keep up with the fair sporting spirit in the mega cricket carnival. Now in the latest violation, the Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya has been found guilty of not keeping up with the scheduled over rate while his side was bowling in the clash against the Punjab Kings at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Thursday. Notably, Pandya is the third player after Faf du Plessis and Sanju Samson to have been penalised for the over-rate offence in the 2023 edition.

After having restricted the Punjab Kings to a small total, Pandya was caught off-guard as he did not expect to get involved in a close game. Interestingly enough, he indicated that the team will analyse the reason for the same during their team meeting. Amidst all this, two players majorly showed their batting and bowling prowess in a game where GT continued their domination in their second season as well.

Shubman Gill's fiery fifty and Mohit Sharma's comeback were the highlight of the Punjab Kings versus Gujarat Titans clash

Speaking of yesterday's game, Gujarat Titans continued their winning ways, courtesy of another terrific fifty knock from the opener, Shubman Gill. The ravishing batter scored his second fifty of the IPL 2023 season. Gill smacked 67 off 49 balls. During his stay at the crease, the Fajilika-born smashed seven fours and one six, respectively. It is worth mentioning that Gill completed his fifty with a glorious cover drive off Deepak Chahar. The opener got dismissed in the last by Sam Curran.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans are scheduled to face Rajasthan Royals for their next clash at their home at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 16, Friday.

On the other hand, in another notable performance, the veteran Indian pacer, Mohit Sharma produced a stellar bowling display in what was his comeback match in the mega carnival which propelled the Titans to defeat the Kings by six wickets. Notably, Sharma remained very economical among all the bowlers in the match. He scalped two wickets by conceding just 18 runs off his four overs spell. Batters Jitesh Sharma and Sam Curran were his victims. He finished with an incredible economy of 4.50 runs per over. As a result, Punjab Kings could only manage to post 153/8 on the board. For his impressive bowling, Mohit Sharma was adjudged the Play of the Match.
