IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders Retained Players, Released Players, & Purse Remaining ahead of Mini Auction

The trading window of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 officially concluded on November 15 at 5 PM. Franchises were made to submit their final list of retained players ahead of the IPL 2023 Auction scheduled to take place on December 23 in Kochi.

Like the rest of the franchises, Kolkata Knight Riders too were busy rejigging their squad, having made few vital changes ahead of the forthcoming edition of the top-tier league. Knight Riders secured the services of Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz after trading them in from IPL 2022 champions Gujarat Titans.

Another significant trade was acquiring the services of team India all-rounder Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals. Furthermore, the franchise released Alex Hales, who joined Sam Billings and Pat Cummins in opting out from the upcoming season due to personal reasons and national team commitments. Moreover, the Kolkata franchise will now have three players to pick from the overseas lot from their purse in the auction. 

KKR move into the auction with INR 7.5 crore. as they will need to get back to ideating plans well for the auction and make proper use of their remaining resources. Overall, the side retained as many as 11 players and have traded in three, with two from the Titans and one from the Delhi franchise. The Kolkata franchise endured one of their worst seasons in 2022 as they stood seventh in the points table.
