The controversy following Match 43 of Indian Premier League 2023 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants doesn’t seem to end as Naveen-ul-Haq was spotted having a chat with Vice President of BCCI, Rajeev Shukla. Naveen, who got involved in a verbal duel with Virat Kohli in their previous game, was spotted talking with Shukla ahead of LSG’s tenth game against the Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday, May 3, in Lucknow.
The 23-year-old was fined 50% of his match fee for his on-field behaviour while Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir were fined 100% of their match fee for their altercation. The duo ended up having a heated argument when the two teams shared pleasantries after RCB’s 18-run win.
The LSG mentor seemed irked by Kohli sledging Naveen and came to his player’s defence as he charged at the RCB batter and got involved in a furious conversation. Notably, the duo had also got into a verbal spat earlier during IPL 2013 in a game between KKR and RCB while leading their respective teams.
Gambhir had given a send-off to the then RCB skipper which annoyed him and the duo were seen having a heated argument before being separated.
Naveen-ul-Haq has picked seven wickets in IPL 2023
Meanwhile, Naveen-ul-Haq has been involved in heated exchanges in the past as well, as he had a scuffle with Mohammed Amir and Shahid Afridi during Lanka Premier League 2020.
Apart from his on-field antics, Naveen recorded figures of 3/30 against RCB as he dismissed Mahipal Lomror, Karn Sharma and Mohammed Siraj, respectively. Courtesy of his spell, LSG restricted RCB to 126/9 in the first innings. However, the KL Rahul-led side ended up losing the game by 18 runs with the captain forced to come out to bat despite getting injured during the first innings of the game.
He earlier returned figures of 3/30 against Punjab Kings as well. Naveen has picked seven wickets in four matches in the ongoing IPL 2023 so far, at an average of 14 and an economy of 6.12.
