IPL 2023: Preity Zinta distributes Punjab Kings jersey to home crowd in Mohali

The Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings were a tad disappointed when they lost their home fixture against defending champions Gujarat Titans on Thursday, April 13. Punjab couldn't get going at all with the bat after they were asked to put up a score on the board. They could only manage 153 for the loss of eight wickets and Gujarat Titans chased it down to clinch the game with six wickets in hand.

Punjab Kings co-owner and popular Bollywood actress Preity Zinta was in attendance at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra International Stadium in Mohali during PBKS’ match against Gujarat Titans in the ongoing IPL 2023. Now, despite the home team losing in the final over the game, the Bollywood actress looked highly spirited as she distributed the home team jersey to the crowd in attendance.

Notably, actor-director Arbaaz Khan was also present at the stadium to watch the match. The picture of Arbaaz went viral on social media and Preity was sitting beside him in the VVIP area.

PBKS lost their second match in the season

Batting first, the openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh struggled to get going. None of them could make any impact as such, as the home side was under real pressure in the powerplay. Later, the middle-order batters controlled the situation but it wasn’t enough. 

Matthew Short, however, played some good cricket before he got out but if he manages to keep up with the form, the Australia international can be really dangerous in the coming matches.

Overall, Punjab struggled to get going as they finished at 153 after 20 overs. Shahrukh Khan in the end played a very important cameo of 23 runs off nine balls but that in the end went in vain, as Gujarat chased the total down eventually.

Opener Shubman Gill once again played a valuable knock of 67 runs off 49 deliveries while Wriddhiman Saha smashed 30 runs off 19 deliveries. They struggled in the middle overs but nevertheless, managed to get two points and move up to third on the IPL Points Table. Interestingly, even though Vijay Shankar played a blistering innings in the last match, he wasn’t used at all against Punjab.
