As the dust starts settling down after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, IPL franchises have amped up their preparation for next year's edition ahead of the retention deadline on November 15. The ten participating franchises have already released several players from their incumbent squad, with the mini-auction taking place next month for the 16th edition of the tournament.

The mini-auction for IPL 2023 is slated to take place in Kochi on December 23. All ten participating franchises have been asked to send in their final list of the released and retained player by Tuesday, November 15. In a bid to bolster their squads for the next edition of the tournament, each team have been granted an extra sum of Rs 5 crore, elevating the pursue value to Rs 95 crore for the 2023 mini-auction.
Despite the increased sum in their purses, the teams are looking to build their squad by releasing a few players and trading in players from other teams in the transfer window ahead of the Retention Day deadline. Punjab Kings have the biggest purse heading into the auctions, carrying forward Rs 3.45 crore from last year's remaining purse value to take their total tally to Rs 8.45 crore.

The Mumbai-based side are also believed to have released Fabian Allen, Tymal Mills, Mayank Markande, and Hrithik Shokin ahead of Retention Day on November 15.
Mayank Agarwal set to be released by Punjab Kings
According to reports, the Punjab Kings are set to release former skipper Mayank Agarwal (Rs 14 cr), Odean Smith (Rs 6 cr), and Shahrukh Khan (Rs 9 cr) ahead of the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Shikhar Dhawan has already been named the skipper for the next season.
