Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) explosive southpaw Rinku Singh may have earned arguably his biggest compliment as the megastar of Indian cinema- Rajinikanth, called him up following his impressive outings in the IPL 2023.
It is no secret that Rinku has been the find of the 16th edition, courtesy of his scintillating batting exploits. The 25-year-old batter attained the limelight when he displayed nerves of steel during the high-voltage match against Gujarat Titans, wherein he hammered five sixes on the trot to win the game for KKR.
Similarly, the southpaw played yet another pivotal knock against Punjab Kings on May 8, proving his mettle when the match came down to the wire as he won the contest with a boundary off the last ball in the thrilling affair.
Grabbing the headlines on numerous occasions due to his performances in the top-tier league, megastar Rajinikanth reportedly made a phone call to the KKR batter and shared some encouraging words. In his stupendous campaign in the 2023 season, Rinku has collected 337 runs in 11 appearances at an excellent average of 56.17.
KKR aiming for playoff berth
Speaking about KKR’s season, the Nitish Rana-led side is placed sixth on the IPL Points Table with 10 points in 11 matches. The side will lock horns with Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals at the iconic Eden Gardens on Thursday, May 11.
Going by their head-to-head records in the last five matches, KKR have the slight upper hand as they have won on three occasions to Rajasthan’s two. The Royals will look to avoid a fourth straight defeat in their upcoming match, whereas Nitish and Co. will look to keep their momentum intact.
In addition to this, KKR will look to clinch the two points against the Royals as it would help climb up to third place in the ladder. With the fag end of the season approaching, the two-time winners will need to win the remainder of their group fixtures so as to cement their spot in the playoffs.
