IPL 2023: Video shows how MS Dhoni orchestrated game-changing dismissal in CSK's win over SRH

On Friday, April 21, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai. After having won the toss, CSK invited Aiden Markram and Co. to bat first. The four-time IPL champions took control of the game, restricting SRH to 134/7 in 20 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja picking up three wickets.

Meanwhile, speaking of the match, the CSK skipper MS Dhoni showed his cricketing brain par excellence and remained instrumental in most of SRH's dismissals during the match. Notably, the dismissal of SRH opener, Harry Brook, in the fifth over of the SRH innings was one among them. The England batter was dismissed by Akash Singh, with Ruturaj Gaikwad taking a blinder. 

Dhoni was seen executing an astounding fielding change during SRH's innings in a video shared by a fan on Twitter. SRH got off to a good start, with openers Brook and Sharma putting on 34 runs in 24 balls. Dhoni brought Gaikwad into a position between the backward point and short third after the first delivery of the fifth over, resulting in an excellent catch from the CSK opener on the very next ball. It's worth noting that Gaikwad was not even in the frame during the previous delivery.

Gaikwad's catch brought us into the game: Jadeja

After winning the match, Ravindra Jadeja said to the bowling coach Dwayne Bravo in a casual conversation that Brook's dismissal had brought CSK back into the game. The all-rounder stated that following the catch, the spinners performed superbly and got numerous wickets. 

"Yeah, we took some brilliant catches. I know Brook, he has been hitting the ball well, so that catch was important. That catch brought us into the game. After that, the spinners came into play and they took plenty of wickets. So, I think it's been amazing," Jadeja said.
