Yashasvi Jaiswal scripted history during match 56 of IPL 2023 between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. The 21-year-old scored the fastest fifty in the history of the tournament off just 13 balls and went on to play a scintillating knock of 98* off 47 balls smashing 12 fours and five sixes in his innings.

Following his stupendous innings, the entire cricketing fraternity showered praise on the young sensation with the likes of Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul tweeting for him. When Jaiswal got to know that Kohli had Tweeted for him during a post-match interview with wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, the Rajasthan opener was shocked to hear that.

He further said that it was great to hear that and thanked all for showering him with love and blessings and guiding him.

Jaiswal started his innings in emphatic fashion as he smacked back-to-back sixes on the first two balls of RR’s innings against Nitish Rana. The southpaw went on to clobber him for 26 runs and recorded the joint second-highest runs scored in the first over of an IPL innings.

Courtesy of his sensational innings, RR chased down the target of 150 in just 13.1 overs and won the match by nine wickets ending their three-match losing streak. Jaiswal was involved in an unbroken 121-run stand off 69 balls for the second wicket with Sanju Samson (48* off 29).

Apart from Jaiswal, Yuzvendra Chahal also scripted history during the match as he picked up 4/25 in his four-over spell. The wrist-spinner became the leading wicket-taker in the history of IPL surpassing Dwayne Bravo’s tally of 183 wickets. Chahal now has 187 wickets to his name from 143 matches at an average of 21.27 and an economy of 7.63.

Meanwhile, following their win, Rajasthan have climbed to the third spot on the IPL 2023 points table with six wins from 12 matches. They will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday, May 14 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
