Shreyas Iyer saw his Kolkata Knight Riders lose to Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets to register their first loss of the season. It was a cruel loss as the home team dominated the game from the first ball.
Chennai Super Kings won the toss and chose to bowl first restricting KKR to just 137/9 from their 20 overs. Chasing 138 to win, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a classy fifty for his team to take them home with 14 balls left to play.
Nothing clicked for KKR on Monday as their batting and bowling both came apart. The next game for KKR is against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday at home in Eden Gardens, KL Rahul and his side are themselves are on a three-game winning run.
Here are the three changes KKR must make to come back to winning ways
3. Need to drop Varun Chakravarthy and replace him with Suyash Sharma
Kolkata Knight Riders need to draft Suyash Sharma into the team with immediate effect. The 32-year-old has picked 4 wickets so far this season and has conceded 134 runs. This is the costliest the right-arm spinner has been this year.
Suyash Sharma who impressed everyone last year is sitting on the bench and waiting for his turn. Sunil Narine’s bowling form has gone down and KKR are suddenly facing dearth of spinning options.

2. Time for Shreyas Iyer to step up with the bat
It hasn’t been an easy few months for Shreyas Iyer on and off the pitch. The 29-year-old has lost his central contract with the BCCI and also faced a few injury concerns. IPL 2024 is the best platform for him to showcase his form and earn a recall to the national side.
So far it has been a quiet season with the bat for Shreyas Iyer and he has to step it up big time. KKR need Shreyas Iyer as a batter as much as they need him as their leader. Considered one of the best players of spin it was a missed opportunity on Monday as Shreyas Iyer struggled to get going.
1. Time to push Rinku Singh up the batting order
Kolkata Knight Riders baffled everyone by sending Ramandeep Singh to bat ahead of Rinku Singh. The move even startled the normally unflustered Harsha Bhogle who was giving his views on the game.

This being a T20 World Cup year, Rinku Singh has hardly got any time in the middle with the bat. This is a huge concern for not only Team India but also for the KKR management. The game on Monday was the perfect chance for Rinku Singh to be pushed up the order and let him find his form with the bat.
