IPL 2024: Anrich Norje returns to Delhi Capitals camp after prolonged injury recuperation

Delhi Capitals have got a major boost ahead of their next game in the Indian Premier League 2024. Their fast-bowling arsenal has been further solidified as the South African pacer Anrich Nortje is back in the Delhi camp. Nortje, who was nursing an injury just before the IPL 2024, was doubtful for selection, but as things stand out, he has joined the Capitals for their next encounter as was seen on the field practicing.
He spoke at length about the world-class facilities at the Delhi Capitals that included coaches and players. While providing insights on his injury recuperation, the pacer stated that he opted for an extended break just to assist his body recover well. He further stated he was not totally out of action as he played domestic games and his grinding in nets is going well.
"It's good to be back on the field again. There is high intensity and great training sessions are taking place. There are world-class players and coaches around. It is very good to be involved with the team again. I am happy to be involved with the team again. It's been a while and I have played three domestic games so far. The intensity in nets is great. Really excited to get going. I had a long-extended break so that my body can recover properly," Nortje stated in a video posted by Delhi Capitals on X.

Nortje is back on the field after almost five-month hiatus
The 30-year-old joined the DC squad after a heartbreaking defeat against Punjab Kings in their opening game. They lost to PBKS by four wickets, however, they will be eyeing a much-needed victory in Jaipur, as they take on Rajasthan Royals in their second league game.

Nortje has not been featured in the South African team since September 2023. He was overlooked for the World Cup 2023 and subsequently when India toured South Africa in 2023/24 for the Tests and T20I series. He missed out on action due to a back stress fracture but he made a brief return to competitive cricket during the Cricket South Africa T20 Challenge and featured in just three games.
