After struggling for the majority part of IPL 2024, Yashasvi Jaiswal finally took control of his batting and hit a brilliant century against Mumbai Indians, which helped Rajasthan pick up a comfortable nine-wicket victory over the five-time champions. First, he built a crucial partnership with fellow opener Jos Buttler and later on, he switched gears and played aggressively along with Sanju Samson to get the job done. He scored 104* runs off 60 deliveries and with that, the youngster is once again back in contention to make it to the 15-member India squad for the T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, former cricketer Brian Lara was very impressed with Jaiswal’s batting against MI. He lauded the 22-year-old for his mature knock and analysed that he took some time early on and once again, he played good cricketing shots to score runs at a quick rate. The legendary cricketer added that Jaiswal took the responsibility of finishing things off and he was happy to see him get those runs after a dry patch.

“Yeah, beautiful. But the fact of the matter is, he’s taking his time, looking at the ball right from up at the back, and he’s playing cricketing shots. He’s got all the stuff, he doesn’t have to worry about it,” Lara said on Star Sports.
“When you do get on top of the bowlers, that’s when you take it back, because that’s what I love about Yashasvi. It was well put together, great cricketing shots, he’s managed throughout the innings, and anyone knows, if you’re chasing such a good total, at Jaipur and you bounce through the innings, you’re soon as going to get there. So he’s shown a lot of responsibility, a lot of maturity, and I’m very happy to have him back,” he added.
Courtesy of a sensational win, Rajasthan managed to strengthen their place at the top of the table. They have 14 points to their name after eight matches.
