Sam Curran headed back to Chennai to play his former side and won the toss and chose to bowl first. The visitors who had chased down a huge 261 in the last game went into the game with the same team that had beaten KKR in the massive run-chase.

Chennai Super Kings had also come to the game with a huge win against SRH in the last match. Matheesha Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande had to miss out due to niggles as Richard Gleeson made his IPL debut and Shardul Thakur came back into the team.

Sam Curran’s decision to go with spin paid rich dividends as the boundaries began to dry up. Harpreet Brar got the wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube in the same over while Rahul Chahar got the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja to have the hosts reeling.

MS Dhoni began the final over of the innings with a four off Arshdeep Singh. The next few balls saw the left-arm pacer bowl well to give the former CSK no room before he was smashed for a six and two to end the over. Chennai Super Kings could manage to score only 11 runs from the final over to end the innings
