Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be up against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Math 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. This will be their second meeting in the ongoing season as the tournament enters its second half. Earlier, CSK visited Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium and they were handed an eight-wicket defeat, shunning MS Dhoni’s blistering 9-ball 28.
The defending champions will look to settle the scores when they host KL Rahul and Co. at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday, April 23. Despite losing the last match, CSK have a slight edge over LSG in the points table, thanks to their higher net run rate. Both teams have eight points after winning four of the seven matches played so far in the league.
The head-to-head stats of the two teams suggest that LSG is leading the battle. They have met four times in the history of the tournament, with LSG winning twice and one match ending in a draw. They have shared an intense fight over the past two years and the stage is set for another thrilling contest in Chennai.
Here are the top three player battles to watch out for in IPL 2024: CSK vs LSG, Match 39:
3. Shivam Dube vs Ravi Bishnoi
Shivam Dube has been a consistent performer for CSK this season. The southpaw has incredible power to dispatch balls into the stands, especially against spinners. He could not unleash those towering sixes in the last match as Marcus Stoinis sent him packing early.
The middle-order batter will likely have a match-up against LSG spinner Ravi Bishnoi in the upcoming match. Though the right-arm spinner has dismissed Dube once across four IPL innings, the latter has a strike rate of 157.14 in this regard.

2. Mohsin Khan vs Rachin Ravindra
The last time the two teams met each other, the CSK opener failed to get off the mark as Mohsin Khan dismissed him on the very first ball of his innings. The battle between the two left-handers is likely to be fascinating again and it remains to be seen who will have the last laugh this time.
The New Zealand cricketer had a good start but lost his rhythm as the tournament progressed. Mohsin, on the other hand, has been impressive so far and will look to get rid of Ravindra before settling down at the crease and providing LSG an early lead.
1. Marcus Stoinis vs Ravindra Jadeja
LSG all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has not been able to find form this season. Barring his 58-run knock against Gujarat Titans (GT), the Australian big-hitter has failed to make an impact with the bat. Stoinis has lost wickets to spinners five times in six innings this season, showing his woes against spin bowling.

CSK will not hesitate to exploit his weakness and will use Ravindra Jadeja as a weapon in the middle overs. The left-arm spinner has delivered 15 balls to the right-handed batter in the IPL, in which he has dismissed him twice and conceded 24 runs. Also, Jadeja has a good record in Chepauk and will look to improve his stats.
