Players' registration deadline for IPL 2024 auction on November 30
The IPL 2024 auction will take place on December 19 in Dubai.
The much-awaited IPL 2024 auction is just a few weeks away as the mega event is all set to take place on December 19 in Dubai. Ahead of the auction, the final date for the players to register for the event is Thursday, November 30. Interested players are required to submit their names along with No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from their national cricket boards.
Notably, over 700 players are expected to register for the auction this time around which includes some of the major names in world cricket. The recent top performers of the ODI World Cup 2023 namely Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah and others are likely to be sold for big bucks.

According to Cricbuzz, franchises will be further asked to shorten the list after the completion of the registration process as the BCCI is expecting around 70 players to be sold at the auction with total expected transactions of around INR 262.95 crore. Notably, the ten franchises have 77 available slots to fill and they can also buy up to 30 foreign players.
Star England all-rounder Ben Stokes has withdrawn his name from the auction, however, there’s still no confirmation on the availability of Jofra Archer, who has been recently released by Mumbai Indians, Furthermore, star Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is also likely to be available for the upcoming season having been released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
IPL 2024 to begin from the third week of March
The most talked about player ahead of the auction is the Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc who will be returning to the T20 extravaganza after a nine-year-long hiatus. The Cricbuzz report states that Starc has been approached by at least five franchises who’ve shown their willingness to sign him.

Meanwhile, the IPL 2024 is likely to take place from the third week of March right after the India vs England five-match Test series and will run until the third week of May. The early scheduling of the cricketing carnival has been done to provide the boards and players ample time to prepare for the T20 World Cup 2024 which is likely to begin from June 3.
