The Gujarat Titans have announced the signing of Gurnoor Singh Brar as a replacement for left-arm pacer Sushant Mishra for the rest of the Indian Premier League 2024.

Gurnoor is a right-arm fast-bowler known for extracting pace by hitting the deck hard. He has played five first-class games and one List-A match for Punjab in domestic cricket. Gujarat Titans signed him for IPL 2024 at his reserve price of INR 20 lakh. He played a solitary game for Punjab Kings in 2023, when he was brought in as a replacement for injured all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa. 

Meanwhile, Sushant, who played for India in the 2020 Men's U19 World Cup and represents Jharkhand in domestic cricket, has suffered a side injury. The Ranchi-born cricketer was signed by Gujarat Titans for INR 2.20 crore.

In the ongoing IPL 2024 season, GT have accumulated 10 points in 12 matches, securing the eighth spot on the points table with a net run rate of -1.063. Their upcoming fixture is against the table-topping Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 13.

Sushant Mishra is a talent worth nourishing

The 22-year-old cricketer began his journey in the cricketing world under the guidance of the late Shashikant Pathak at Argora Cricket Academy in Ranchi. Through sheer hard work and commitment, he earned his spot in the Jharkhand state team for age-group cricket. In his first-class career, the Ranchi lad impressed by taking 20 wickets in seven matches.

Making waves in List A cricket, Sushant grabbed attention with 15 wickets in 10 games. His potential was recognized early as he represented India in the Under-19 World Cup in 2020. He spent nearly two years with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru before his dedication paid off with a selection by Sunrisers Hyderabad for the 2022 IPL season.
