In the 59th game of the Indian Premier League 2024, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be taking on the Gujarat Titans at the iconic Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. This match is a repeat of last year’s final which happened at this venue itself. However, only one of these two teams has a good chance of reaching the final once again.

Chennai Super Kings currently occupy fourth spot in the standings after playing eleven games in the tournament so far. They need a minimum of two wins from their final three matches to stand any chance of qualification. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans currently sit at the last position on the points standings and need more than three wins from their remaining matches to advance to the playoffs this season.

Here is the Probable Playing XI for Gujarat Titans against Chennai Super Kings:

Openers: Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Shubman Gill (C)

The opening duo of Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill are settled at the top of the batting order for the Gujarat Titans. The pair have opened the batting together since the 2022 season and are well-versed in each other’s style of play. However, it has not been a great season so far for the wicket-keeper batter as he has just managed 136 runs across the nine games that he has played.

On the other hand, Shubman Gill has been having a rather inconsistent campaign himself as he has not reached the expectations that he had set after a remarkable campaign last time around. The burden of captaincy might be on the young batter but has still made it to the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024 and would be hoping to give his best in the remaining few matches of the tournament.

Middle Order: Sai Sudarshan, Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia

It has been yet another extraordinary season for Sai Sudharshan as he has done the bulk of the scoring for his side in the tournament. He is also in contention to win the Emerging Player of the Tournament award and is the favourite to claim that accolade this year. The franchise would be hoping that the batter can continue his good form in the final matches of the league stage.

Vijay Shankar is undergoing a poor campaign as he has struggled to cement his place in the starting XI despite receiving numerous opportunities. The Tamil Nadu batter has not been able to contribute significantly to the franchise but will still retain his place due to the lack of alternatives in that spot.

Time and time again David Miller has come in clutch for his franchise as he has managed to get invaluable contributions at key times. He has the experience of managing pressure situations and has the game awareness to attack when required for his team. The South African batter has been a key player this year for the Gujarat Titans.

One of the most underrated players in the Gujarat Titans squad has to be Rahul Tewatia. The batter is the X-factor player that every team desires to have in their team. His clutch cameos and the ability to change the tide of the match when the odds are against the team are unparalleled.

All-rounders: Shahrukh Khan, Rashid Khan

The fans were shocked when Shahrukh Khan was not played in the initial few games in the tournament. When he got the start, he was not able to make the best use of it but the team management backed the all-rounder. Over the past two games, he has produced great performances with the bat and has performed in pressure situations.

After undergoing back surgery last year, Rashid Khan came into the tournament with less match practice. This has come to notice since the bowling all-rounder has not had the best of seasons so far according to his standards. However, he is still one of the best players in the world currently and can be crucial for the team in the remaining few games of the tournament.

Bowlers: Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Noor Ahmad, Sandeep Warrier

The introduction of Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore was great as he managed to make a name for himself with some great performances. However, a couple of poor performances saw him being left out. But nonetheless, on a slow wicket in Ahmedabad, the left-arm spinner would be given the go-ahead against a team that has many right-handers in their batting line-up.

Noor Ahmad has become the primary spinner for the franchise as he has been having an outstanding campaign with the ball. The left-arm spinner has been troubling the batters with his variations and that has helped him scalp wickets at regular intervals for his team. He will play a crucial part for the franchise in the upcoming games of the tournament.

In the absence of Mohammed Shami, Gujarat Titans were able to add Sandeep Warrier to their squad. The pacer has been great for the franchise as he has been taking wickets regularly for the team. He would be looking to continue his stellar form this season as his side looks to make it into the play-offs later this month.
