IPL 2024: Hardik Pandya officially traded to Mumbai Indians, Cameron Green transferred to RCB
No other player is involved in either of the deals.
In yet another development ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, it has been confirmed that star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been traded to his former team Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans. It has also been revealed that no player has been given in return to Gujarat since it was an all-cash trade.
There had been several speculations around Pandya’s transfer to his former IPL team. Earlier, reports came forth of an all-cash trade of INR 15 crore, however, with the retention deadline approaching, it was announced that Gujarat retained Pandya ahead of the IPL 2024.
However, IPL officially confirmed that the ace cricketer will be heading to Mumbai Indians as after many U-turns on the deal, the concerned franchises have signed to make the deal official on November 27 With Pandya's departure, Shubman Gill has been announced the new skipper of Gujarat Titans. It has also been reported that Mumbai Indians all-rounder Cameron Green has been traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore. The sturdy all-rounder was bought by the Mumbai Indians for INR 17.5 crore. Similar to Pandya's trade, the Green deal is also an all-cash one with no other player being involved.
"According to insiders from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and IPL, a formal approval has been granted for these cash-only trades," the report reads.
It is worth noting that Pandya has been highly successful as the skipper of Gujarat Titans ever since he was bought by them in the 2022 auction. Leading the side to the coveted title in their first season, Pandya also led the side to the summit clash of the tournament in 2023 but fell short in the final hurdle when they lost to MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings.
Pandya’s inclusion in Mumbai’s squad could further bolster the team. In search of their sixth IPL title, he could be the missing piece of the puzzle for the five-time champions.
