IPL 2024: Hardik Pandya subjected to massive trolling on social media after SRH's assault
Hardik Pandya faced hostility from fans at the toss during SRH vs MI clash
Newly appointed Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya is having a tough time out in the field as he was once again booed by the Hyderabad crowd during MI’s second game of the season against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, March 27. While speaking to the commentator Ian Bishop at the toss, Pandya was welcomed with a deafening ‘boos’ from the crowd who openly expressed their disappointment seeing him captaining Mumbai Indians.
The 30-year-old also faced the wrath of the crowd during Mumbai’s first game of the season against his old team Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, Pandya, who was GT captain, was acquired by Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of IPL 2024 through a player trade which didn’t go down well with Gujarat fans.

After bringing him on board, MI even appointed the all-rounder as the captain of the time replacing their five-time winning skipper Rohit Sharma which irked MI fans who felt that Rohit hadn’t been treated right by the franchise. The entire saga resulted in widespread trolling of Pandya over social media and now in the ground with fans of both teams going after him.
Pandya had a forgettable outing in his first game as MI captain
To add to his woes, Pandya didn’t have a memorable outing on his captaincy debut for Mumbai as he leaked 30 runs from three overs with the ball. He later failed to score 19 runs in the last over to take his team over the line getting dismissed for 11 (4). Moreover, the all-rounder was also criticized for his decisions as he bizarrely decided to take the new ball before their pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah.
However, he quickly realized his mistake and brought on Bumrah in the fourth over who gave the first strike of the match dismissing Wriddhiman Saha. The speedster finished the match with figures of 3/14 in four overs and helped restrict GT to 168/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Meanwhile, social media was once again flooded with memes on Hardik Pandya as the MI skipper had another tough outing in the second game with SRH batters smashing MI bowlers all over the park.
