The final game of a poor Indian Premier League 2024 campaign for the Mumbai Indians will see them play the Lucknow Super Giants at the iconic Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. The home team skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first in the hope of utilising the dew factor later on in the match. There were a lot of changes in both the teams but the major ones being Jasprit Bumrah, Tilak Varma and Quinton de Kock missing out today.

Lucknow Super Giants:  67/2 after 9 overs - First Strategic Time Out

It turned out to be a poor start for the Lucknow Super Giants as they lost Devdutt Padikkal during the first over itself. A brilliant ball from Nuwan Thushara caught the batter on the leg and was adjudged LBW. Marcus Stoinis came to the crease and was dismissed by Arjun Tendulkar in the very next over. However, he challenged the decision and it turned out to be the right decision and the Australian stayed on.

On one end, Marcus Stoinis toiled with the bowlers for the next three overs and was picking up boundaries for fun as well. KL Rahul, on the other hand, was taking his time but he picked up as he notched up two consecutive sixes against Piyush Chawla. However, the bowler was able to remove the dangerous Marcus Stoinis on the final ball of the powerplay. Deepak Hooda came to the crease hoping to stabilise the innings this season.

Lucknow Super Giants:   170/3 after 16 overs - Second Strategic Time Out

Just after the Time Out, the hosts were able to dismiss Deepak Hooda as the veteran Piyush Chawla delivered once again for the team. But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as that brought Nicholas Pooran to the crease.

He turned the match with his amazing boundary-hitting ability as he completed his fifty inside 19 balls. On the other end, the skipper completed his fifty as well and was looking to accelerate as well. The Mumbai Indians looked clueless and did not have their main man Jasprit Bumrah available as well for this game.

Lucknow Super Giants:   214/6 after 20 overs - End of Innings

However, Nuwan Thushara came back during the death overs as he was able to scalp two consecutive wickets as he removed Pooran and Arshad Khan. On the very first ball of the next over, Piyush Chawla dismissed the opposition skipper and that brought some momentum for the hosts. In the end, small cameos from Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya helped the visitors to a competitive total of  214/6 in their 20 overs.
