Sai Sudharsan adjudged POTM:
"I feel even in the first innings it was slightly difficult and second innings because of the dew they were able to play a few shots, but we pulled off a great game today. I am just taking it as an extra opportunity to try and win a game for my team. After a few balls, I felt this is that kind of a wicket where you can go hard everywhere and wanted to build on the momentum. Too many great contributions in the second innings and I am actually shocked to be recieving this award. As a batter, I found it tough when they took the pace off and our bowlers executed really well today," Sai said.
Winning skipper Shubman Gill said:
"The way the boys held their nerves with dew coming in, it was outstanding. The way our spinners bowled made sure we are always in the game. It's all about holding your nerves. He (Sudarshan) has been a revelation for us. We just wanted to build on the pressure and wait for them to make mistakes. The crowd is one thing, have always come whether it is a day game or a night game and shout out to all the fans who have come here to support us. I thought that was a good score, but we definitely left at least 15 runs there, it was hard to hit those short balls as the wicket got a bit slow towards the end," Gill said.
Losing skipper Hardik Pandya said:
"Obviously, we backed ourselves to chase those 42 runs but it was one of those days when we see the score quite less compared to what it could have been in five overs, I think we lost little bit of momentum there. It feels good to be back because this is one stadium where you can enjoy and feel the atmosphere quite lively and obviously the crowd was full and they got a good game as well. (On Tilak not taking the single vs Rashid) I think Tilak felt that that was a better idea at that point of time, I completely back him, not an issue, 13 games to go," Pandya said.

The five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will start their campaign in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) against last season’s runner-ups Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, March 24 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. There’s a lot going on in the background for Mumbai as they announced a change in their leadership by bringing Hardik Pandya back into their team through a player trade with Gujarat Titans and replacing him with Rohit Sharma.
The move didn’t go down well with the fans who felt that the five-time IPL-winning captain deserved better treatment from his franchise. However, the on-field visuals suggest that ‘all is well’ within the MI camp as Pandya and Sharma were recently seen hugging each other during a practice session.
Keeping the off-field controversies out, MI are once again entering the competition as one of the favourites boasting a really strong squad. During the mini-auction, the Mumbai team management reinforced their squad adding the likes of Gerald Coetzee and Dilshan Madushanka to their team.
However, the latter has been ruled out of the season with Kwena Maphaka being named as his replacement. They also added Nuwan Thushara and all-rounder Mohammad Nabi in their team among others to further bolster their team.
On the other hand, Gujarat also have a captaincy change heading into the season with young batting star Shubman Gill replacing Pandya as the skipper. The franchise has had a memorable start in the league reaching the finals of both the editions they’ve played so far.
However, they will be missing the services of their star seamer Mohammed Shami who was the Purple Cap holder of the previous season. During the mini-auction, they bought the likes of Umesh Yadav, Shahrukh Khan, Sushant Mishra and Robin Minz to get their squad ready for the upcoming. The biggest positive for Gujarat is the availability of all-rounder Rashid Khan who recently recovered after undergoing a back surgery.
With two of the strongest teams of the tournament taking on each other, the upcoming fixture promises to be a thrilling clash for the fans who will get to witness some top-notch cricketing action.
